Trek Overview
The Annapurna Circuit Trek covers a route length of approximately 160 to 230 km (100-145 miles), depending on transportation use and trek completion points. The trek typically starts at Besisahar in Lamjung and concludes at Nayapul, near Pokhara. For a safer and more gradual altitude gain, most trekkers prefer the anticlockwise direction.
The route traverses two distinct river valleys, encircling the Annapurna Massif and offering panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas. The trek follows the Marshyangdi River, presenting awe-inspiring views of Manaslu and Himal Chuli. As you progress northward, the arid Tibetan Plateau contrasts beautifully with the snow-covered Himalayan peaks.
Crossing Thorong La Pass is the trek’s most demanding section. Upon reaching the summit, trekkers are rewarded with spectacular mountain vistas before descending toward the revered Muktinath Temple, a spiritual landmark visited by thousands of pilgrims annually.
Cultural and Natural Wonders
Throughout the journey, trekkers encounter charming villages inhabited by Gurung, Ghale, and Thakali communities, known for their warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage. Jomsom, a major stop along the route, provides comfortable accommodations, allowing trekkers to relax and rejuvenate.
The journey continues through scenic villages like Lete, offering spellbinding views that leave trekkers in awe. The Annapurna Circuit Trek also provides an opportunity to visit the pristine Tilicho Lake, one of the world’s highest-altitude lakes, enhancing the adventure's allure.
